I have moved to London until Christmas as part of my University placement year, working at Jane Carr scarves located near Regent Park. London has always been a huge obsession of mine, from the busy streets to the stuffy tube, there is honestly no place I would rather be. I have officially been here for 2 weeks now and I have never felt so inspired, not just to do well in life but to work hard for my own success. The feeling you get inside when you do something good is indescribable, just that feeling of being so proud of where you are in life can be so settling, especially when you are a stress head like me. The only think that gives makes me extremely anxiety is when I think about my future. The fact I am 21 and constantly feel like I am running out of time.
So why is London so inspiring? Ever since I have been here, I have been non-stop busy, constantly hanging out with friends, discovering new parts of the city or just longing out going home because I am so happy wondering around the streets. Being surrounded by so many people, with different stories and ambitions makes you realise there is a big world outside the little village you were raised in. The city is filled with inspiring people, working hard to build a life for their own.
The thing I love about London is the constant movement. The constant feeling of continuously being busy. Yes, doing stuff all the time in this big city can be extremely expensive but there are so many activities you can do for free. Yesterday I wondered around the whole day all on my own. I got the tube to Regent Street, then walked to the Tate Modern. I walked past the London Eye, London Bridge, The Shard and along the River Themes. Doing all this is completely free and motivating.
I am the type of person who needs to keep myself extremely busy to feel like I am making progress in life. Inspiration really comes from being present. From exploring what is right in front of you. Inspiration does not just magically show up, it comes when you least expect it. For me it comes from my commute on the tube to work in the morning, or seeing gorgeous girls in stunning outfits, or even just sat in a cute new café in Ealling Broadway, you really cannot pick and choose. I feel my most inspired when I am surrounded by positive people, that is when I feel the most creative.
Although inspiration is something that will spontaneously occur, you can re - inspire yourself by looking at the bigger picture. What do you really want from this world? Extremely clique but you do only have one life, so do everything you possibly can and take every single opportunity thrown your way. The best part of being inspired is the way it can transform your life, whatever your ambition, try to place yourself in the correct environment that makes you feel your “best self.”
P.S. I don’t normally read as living at home I don’t seem to find the time. But since moving, I have to commute for an hour in the morning, so instead of sitting on my phone I have been reading books, magazines or even listening to motivating podcasts, which is extremely unlike me!
I hope you have enjoyed reading my first blog post, there is a lot more coming your way.
